Ms. Lois B Turner is a retired Music Educator served thirty- four years with exemplary service with the Beaumont Independent School District. She joins the staff as Vocal Coach. During her tenure, Lois taught students music on all levels including High school, middle and elementary school. Ms. Turner has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Huston-Tillotson in Austin Texas and a Masters of Arts in Vocal performance from Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View Texas. Lois was awarded a Fellowship from F.A.M.E to study Sight Reading Techniques of Dr. Zoltan Kodaly taught by Dr. Jill Trinkle of the University of Texas at Austin, she received her Level One Certification.
Lois serves as a Praise and Worship and choir member and is the Children Choir Director at her church. She also is Our Life Jr teacher, Jail and Prison Ministry Psalmist and on the Ministry Team. Lois is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Beaumont Alumnae Chapter and Common Ground Theatre Group .
Mr. Zach Gonzalez joins the staff as our guitar instructor. He has a Music Degree from Lamar Port Arthur as a Session Musician and in Performance. Zach started playing guitar at the age of 10 and started playing professional when he was drafted by family friend Tracy Byrd, who he has been with for six years and counting. Zach also worked under Pastor Adolph at Antioch Baptist church for 5 years where he developed a love for Gospel and R&B music and singing.
Zach also has a love for other genre’s of music including Jazz and Blues. Zach has been influenced by the likes of Glen Campbell, Van Halen, Brian, Charlie Wilson, Garth Brooks and Stevie Wonder just to name a few. He has performed all over Beaumont and Houston as a Solo Artist which is his ultimate dream. “I’m a firm believer that we can learn something from it all. I’m so thankful to the Good Lord up above for giving me the love of music, it keeps me going everyday.”
Mr. Jeremy McAfee joins the staff of Kathryn’s Music Academy as our Drum Instructor. Jeremy has been playing drums for a little over twenty-two years, since the tender age of 9.
Jeremy currently is the drummer for the Choirs and Praise Team at his church. He has worked the last twenty-two years in collaboration with our very own Mrs. Kathryn Veal.
Mrs. Juanita McAfee is the Office Manager at Kathryn's Music Academy. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Theology, Elementary and Special Education and has been working with children for over thirty four years. It is her desire to make sure every child know they are important and is a major contributor to society. She encourages them to dream big. Mrs. McAfee has over seventeen years of experienced in office administration.

Mrs. Mary Jane Jones joins the staff of Kathryn's Music Academy as Marketing Director. Mary brings abundant experience in various areas including Childcare, Office Administration and Customer Service, all accumulated over the last 37 years.
Mary loves to sing and is a member of the Praise and Worship Team at her church. Her formal studies include Truck Driving, Project Management, Human Resources and Psychology. Mary believes in KMA's Mission and looks forward to helping advance the Academy in any way she can.
Our children the "little mozarts" starting at age four are taught the basics of music. We begin with piano theory, piano lessons, technic, sight reading, workbook and flashcards as well as ear training. All students, elementary through college are taught the basics of music according to their abilities and experience.
Kathryn's Music Academy also offers vocal lessons, consisting of warmups, tone, range, diction, enunciation, pronunciation, posture and mic etiquette. Vocal athletes are encouraged to sing at all of the Academy's programs.
Our goal at Kathryn's Music Academy is to develop and enhance musical talent, mold and shape individuals into well-rounded musicians. We create a peaceful and positive atmosphere in which to learn. Students perform in our recitals throughout the school term.
